Gelli card

How do you all feel about deadlines? Me, I become frozen when it involves artistic ability. I have been trying to make my mother in law a butterfly thank you card all week. Finally got some luck with the gelli plate so sent it with my husband instead of mailing it on Wednesday as I had planned. She gave me a beautiful butterfly calendar for 2017.  John said she liked the card. I included a bookmark inside.

Alps

Did some intuitive work and look what appeared, the Alps! I really wish we could have seen the peaks with snow on them. You could see the grassy green ski runs on all the mountains.

Got that coloring bug and spent way too long on this scully. Used Prisma color pencils and finished with gel pens. I can't find my other colored pages, I wanted to doodle on them with my gel pens, it was really fun and made the colors pop.

Big Daddy

Junking always inspires new art. I've been waiting for my husband to drill a piece for the lamp. Well, he is busy and likes to keep me waiting. I wired a few crystals but was stuck until I looked at Big Daddy.

I knew Big Daddy wanted to be near Little Miss Sunshine, so I wired him to the lamp base. It is heavy brass so no problems with the weight. Much better way to light him up than the candle holder he came with, I used a rusty wire soap dish to cover the bulb in the back.

I'm not done with this altar. I want to make a rosary for the beautiful cross I found at the last sale. I've decided this piece is inspired by all the catholic boys I've ever loved before. No other excuse for such a piece because I am not catholic or religious for that matter.

It started from a dismantled catholic shrine I had done with my father in law in mind, the king of catholics. Anyway, he pissed me off one too many times so I took that shit apart and gave his mom one of the prettiest rosaries I had wired and started adding rosaries to this piece, found a few more crosses in Austria so will keep adding.

I'm going to wire a pendulum for me and hang it also. So, don't start counting crosses, I will never tell...

Basement ice dyeing

This is my leftover hoard that I don't have room for upstairs.
I dyed another batch of cotton socks. They are so fun to try to match.
I've set up a nice little ice dyeing station down there. The crate is raised so there is room for the dye to drain as the ice melts. I pre-soak in soda ash and also transport the batches in the big bucket so I don't get dye everywhere. After dyeing I nuke for 4 minutes in the microwave to set the dye, then wash with a cup of vinegar and tide free in cold water.

Sat down with my new typewriter and the Mobil Oil letterhead inspired a crazy rant against all big oil. (no offence miss amy) I'm thinking it has a mind of it's own and that I should type everyday just to see what is going on in there. Have you ever heard of Edgar Cayce? I've read a lot of his stuff. Very interesting. My auntie from New York turned me onto him back in the 70's. My husband wants to write someone about social security and I've begged him to let me type it on the deluxe. Glued my pages to my 8x8 journal for a great background.
