Garden Art Journal

This is the first day of spring and the first page of my garden art journal. I took these photos yesterday. Today, we have at least 4 inches of snow with more on the way. It has been a long cold snowy winter. Only fitting that we have to endure yet another blanket. But at least we had a peek of spring yesterday and looking forward to filling this journal with notes, pictures and art work from my garden. The flowering Pasque was just beginning to peek out of the mulch, I took the photo then tucked her back in. Love this furry little flower. (Lower right hand corner.) I bought the rock at a yard sale downtown last year. Straight from Big Creek. The daffodils are miniature variety. I've tried to journal on the rock three times. Don't like the way the writing looks with the garden. Looks too much like graffiti.

Fall Leaf

Lily Fairy

I've sent some of my Photoshop creations to a magazine. Would love to be published this year. It was my goal last year but didn't get anything submitted. Wish me luck.

homemade watercolor journal

This is the first signature of my homemade watercolor journal. And my first attempt at bookbinding. Thanks to utube it has turned out pretty good. Not sure if I'm going to bead the spine or finish it off.

Should have checked my work before taking closeup of spine. I had to take that knot out as you can see in the rest of the pictures. I look forward to using this journal out by the pool this summer.

My pictures are not exactly in order but I think you get the idea. Love the way the golden paint made the design pop. I just rubbed it on with my fingers.

I started with soft pastels and sprayed with a workable fixative. Then,I went in with more color from my graphite, ink and watercolor pencils. I see this as a future canvas. Love all the color.

I had a great time this morning trying to copy mother nature. I found this photo on flickr sheenjek's photo. California from the train at dawn. Awesome colors and I can't even compete.

Logan's Pastel

Logan is so talented and has a great imagination. He let Grandpa hang his Nascar sign in the garage. Took the cardboard and painted it black. Then used a silver pencil and a ruler to make his mosaic. I had the pleasure of helping him color it in with soft pastels. So fun and I think it is a masterpiece. I really didn't know what he had in mind and just directed him to the supplies he needed. He was SO HAPPY that I had replaced our metallic pencil. Buster chewed our last one to pieces. Anything that drops on the floor is fair game and even though he is OLD he is FAST! We have to bribe him with a cookie to get our stuff back. Sometimes it is too late.
