pink mandala

I see now that my zinnias influenced my color choices of my latest mandala.  I pressed the flowers and am excited to create even more mandalas with the petals.  I guess you could say I'm addicted to the serenity I achieve when workings on mandalas.  Ommm.

art haul

We took my grandson to the Frida Kahlo exhibit at the Nelson-Atkins museum, then on to Westport for a Fleamarket burger.  I was so excited to see the BEST art store I have ever been in right across the street!  Coldsnows.  I know, everyone knows about this place but me.  They had a special buy one get three free on the canvas and buy one get one free on all paint.  I picked up this great porcelain pallet full price.  What a wonderful art day for me!  I showed restraint and just picked paint for gelli printing.  They had all the Golden products buy one get one free.  Oh my.  So I spent 75 bucks and saved 130.  What a deal!  Although, it did turn out to be an expensive burger.

book binding

My grandson came over the other day and told me he lost his journals in a flood!  We combined our ideas and made him the coolest journal ever!  He knew how to sew the binding, so we used a spool of antique variegated fishing line for the thread, and I was saving that cigar box lid for a special project.  Grandpa even helped by drilling the holes for us.  What a fun project.  I tried to talk him out of it when we were done.

Streetcar named Desire

I found this great slate at Michaels and finally got the nerve to try to paint a streetcar on it.  If you have been to Jackson square, you know, slate says New Orleans.  After watching a great lesson about perspective on you-tube, this version is much better.

I've painted this same shot here and in another art journal so, decided it was time to jump into the slate thing, even though this page is not done.

Happy 4th of July!

I took these a couple of years ago and became obsessed with catching the reflections in the pool.
