water color zinnia

Turns out staying mindful is the way to go with water color. No spacing out and just painting willy nilly. One petal a time. I'm loving the faded pink in the middle!

water color zinnia

I watched my friends water color on line for weeks before I could even begin to figure it out. I think I'm starting to get it.

So, I've been listening to Van Morrison...where was I back in the day. He is amazing! Into the Mystic! Wow! I guess there was SO much great music back then I just missed it.

We had a dog named Domino so that was the theme song at our house.

watercolor and ink sketch

Spent several hours sketching three vases of flowers and the very first line I made on the drawing was wrong. In water color, no matter how you try to correct, it is IMPOSSIBLE! Gawd.

Not a big deal but the water color paper is so expensive! I did learn that instead of doing three vases of dead zinnias, a closeup is better visually. So I'm going to use the wrong sketch to test my color and strokes before painting the closeup.

Next chapter

I'm so excited about our next chapter that I can hardly stand it!

We are in a long holding pattern but once it breaks loose we are going to move to Maine!  So excited to experience the food and crashing waves on the huge rocks! And... the company is going to pay for the move. Wow, how lucky are we?

The Jesse Tucker house is pending so guess it wasn't for us. Oh well. I loved his house but hated the crappy pool out back. We have a beautiful pool here but are ready to leave it behind.

I am so focused and excited about having all my art supplies in one space with room to work. I guess I'm different, in the fact that I do many different types of projects and feel so constricted in the tiny dining room of this house. Sure I have two bedrooms and the basement if I really wanted to spread out but I don't. I want to be in the living area of the house with all my stuff around me.

I joined a sewing group on facebook and those ladies are going nuts setting up in garages and sheds and BASEMENTS! FUCK! It takes all of my power to resist lecturing them that we DON'T belong in a basement or in the back bedroom. WE deserve to be in the best spot of the house. With the best view.

I don't comment because I know I'm spoiled rotten but frankly I can't wait to buy a house for my studio and hopefully no room for overnight guests.  Ha. I'm an old lady and have no problem with people, but no longer have the ability not to say exactly what is on my mind. Some can't handle it I'm sure. So I stay to myself. From what I read Maine is the perfect place to hibernate with the bears! Now Susan can come but doesn't want to. She and I are frank with each other. Great to have a friend like that.

Just waiting for the green light!

Zentangle

I find water color very difficult so I have been doodling zentangles also. As you can see I'm pretty zen at this point.
