serged caftan
Okay, I am really proud of myself for threading my new serger. I'm amazed at myself for actually making a garment. Don't get me wrong. I made some amateur mistakes but this is actually wearable. I'm going to wear it proudly.
After last nights unfortunate events this looked like Buster had chewed a large hole front and center. Turns out you can't serge the facing. Lucky me, the pattern is HUGE and I was able to fix the problem and maybe help the sizing. The collar will not lay as illustrated but who cares. My next project hopefully will go better. Live and learn.
Right now I'm going to take a hot bath and put on my new robe.

janome
Cleaned up my chime mess to make way for my new toy. A SERGER! Don't know what to do with it but will soon find out.
Searched high and low for a new robe. No cotton ones available online or otherwise. I think I can make a couple. Bought the batik fabric for a caftan and the 1940's pattern for an old fashion chenille robe. Just like Big Edie. Wish me luck. I'm not a great seamstress. My mother and aunt were great. Will try to channel them to help me.

smudge sticks
Natures bounty. I made my own smudge sticks this morning with sage and lavender. Only trimmed one for burning. They are so beautiful I did not have the heart to trim the others. Intended to use my "Russian Sage" but after some research found out that is not a true sage. And, OH MY, it smells VERY strong. Want cleanse the house not fight demons.
My neighbor tied hers with red string the true native American way. She is trying to sell her house. I used the blue and yellow hemp. I chopped the Victoria Blue Salvia and Lavender about 12 inches long. Encased the lavender in the sage. The Indians used white sage. Next year I will try to find that.

full moon wind chimes
Added the center piece on these chimes and hung them on the arbor. Can't wait to see them next summer surrounded by honeysuckle. It will be the second year on this vine so I'm thinking it will cover the whole thing. Will provide shade and enjoyment. The hummingbirds love this plant! Oh and best of all more privacy!
