art journals

I love this pile of art journals.  Finished my third moleskine and now it is time to choose my next journal to work in.

It is snowing and I don't have another moleskine so I'm going to choose between this old yearbook and this accounting book.  Both are really nice!

I went with the yearbook and plan on using the pictures and graphics as layers.  I think this  original frame looks very art deco.  Is that the right period?  1924.

On my desk

Persistence pays off.  I'm thinking this painting is done.  Love all the layers.

Acrylic on tissue collage.

Working on this journal page from Christmas with Logan and buster.  They were both great fun!  I wrapped his present with the letter's to Santa from the local paper.  That layer is hidden but the snowman was cute and I cut it from an ad.  Really wish you could see more of the letters.

Glued my sheet of Inkadinkado flowers for background then used india ink and Inktense pencils to add color.  Fun page!

Moleskine

I had a great time trying to paint the fall leaves off my tree.  Well, let me take that back.  I repainted this page about twenty times and only the last time was fun.  I do like how it turned out even though mother nature out paints me everytime.

Journal page

Note to self.  Do not saturate your page with liquid water color.  It will ruin your last page.  Tried to gesso and repaint.  Still messed up.  So, cut some dictionary paper into petals then glued over HUGE purple splotches.  Repainted flowers.

mic page

I used my hand craved stamps to layer up this page.  This is one of those pages that goes on for days.  I covered my art totally so many times.  I have that problem painting also.  Sickness.

More dragonflies

My brother posted a photo of the road to our place at the lake on his facebook page the other day. Reminded me of the beautiful dragon flies that would share the lake with us on those magical days of floating on inner tubes for hours and hours. Only then to remember those damn horse flies that would buzz in on our bliss and bite the hell out of us and send all into the lake in retreat! Those were the days my friend.

dragon fly

Did this page in my journal with the left over pieces from my cards. As you can see the color in my scanner is way off. I took this photo with my Nikon D50.

Elvis page

This page was so fun to make. So many layers. You would never guess what is under all this goodness. Art journaling to me is taking lifes challenges and failures and turning them into something beautiful after all. He would have been seventy seven today. Now that just doesn't sound right does it?

lake poem

This poem was written for a friend's husband celebration of life ceremony. I thought it was so beautiful I had to put it in my journal. The background is our family spot at the Lake of the Ozarks.
