That moment when you realise that your pj's must have inspired your latest art project. Ha. I vow to find some flannel that isn't a cartoon print before I make any more pants. I was telling my husband about Pippi Longstocking the other day. She was my idol as a child and I read all her books instead of Nancy Drew. (Nancy was so dull). My mother gave me all her Briar Rabbit books (full of moral tales), and the long suffering Laura Wilder was so depressing. Her life, land locked. Just like my own. Anyway when I described Pippi wearing colorful clothes, I realised she must have inspired my wardrobe the last few. Hardly appropriate for a women my age but what can I say. The flannel is hurting on the design front. I did carry a batik flannel around at Hancock the other day but left when the clerk disappeared after cutting the women before me. I stepped away for thread and she was no where to be seen when I came back. I guess it is the retail in me that prohibits me from spending money at a place like that. If I were to design flannel I would make mud cloth borders and leave the fucking flowers and cartoon designs alone. We ALL wear the damn things now and who wants to be dressed like a child while seeking comfort. The choices are not any better in the stores and they are at least 6" too short when you buy them. Oh well, I think I'm going to make leggings next time anyway. I ordered a bunch of pink t shirts from amazon and they are so long they call for leggings. Pink for the Pippi in me but will try for a solid pant. In defense of my wardrobe I will say that I have terrible skin allergies and must wear cotton or natural fabrics at all times. I still suffer from daily hives.

gelli mosaic
I would be much further along if I didn't have to cook today, really cuts into my art time.
I'm going to just add to this post as I work on this project. Maybe that will be a better way to blog.
That middle part took five solid hours. Omg. I need some free and easy art in my life.
I've been ordered to not touch my collage today so blogging about my progress instead. My wrist doesn't hurt today so going to listen to him.
Taking it slow and steady. Really wanted to be done with this last weekend.
Okay, I can see that the m is there. Just slowly filling it in. All those black tiles are jumping out at me suddenly from the middle of the c. I really don't want to start redoing before I'm even done.

Riki
Riki likes to bury his food. It is so cute to watch him, I thought you might enjoy it too.
Top drawer, gelli central. Looks like nothing but I can hardly move. Gelli printed the papers then spent all week cutting them into strips and finally tiny tiles. So, I have been arting you just can't see it. I hope it is worth it.
We had a tornado only a few miles from here last night. Lucky no one was hurt when it hit a Friday night football game. Flattened the bleachers and scoreboard. Lucky they got everyone to safety. Peculiar, Mo. You may have heard of the place. :)

card stock mini haul
My husband surprised me by staying home on a personal holiday today and took me junkin. Found those small canvas samples and just had to buy two because they were 30% off $4.00. For all you gelli printing people out there check out that card stock! Can't wait to start, but have to go eat my steak he is cooking for me. Had some fun today!

gelli strips
Riki helped me cut the strips this morning. Not sure where to go from here but I love the colors. And Riki, of course. He got half of a haircut yesterday. I was just doing his face and feet when I cut a toenail a little too short. Blood everywhere and we both got so upset that we stopped. I will fix it a little later this week. He has started fighting while grooming so not so easy anymore. I think he is channeling Buster. I swore I was going to get a dog that didn't need haircuts after wrestling him for fifteen years. He HATED it. I tell them both that it is much nicer here than to be taken to a groomer. They just don't know how good they have it.
gelli print collage
I am lost. I have no projects planned. I haven't done hardly any art for days and I feel so uncomfortable.
I'm in Diane Salter's art junkie group on facebook so decided to work with all those gelli prints and try to make a collage. Her collages are so wonderful that you can't even tell how the world she did it until reading her tutorials. I'm still not sure this will work with my initials but I'm going to try.
http://dianesalter.blogspot.com/p/tutorials.html Go check her blog out. She is an amazing artist.
