Jean jacket mandala

I think I'm going with this doily I crocheted years ago. It should be a good base for embroidering a mandala on it with the flannel colors. Going to hit walmart for the hoop and some more turquoise thread. I will be able to utilize more of the lace I bought last week if I go this way.

I really like the layered look with the hankie and dyed doily but I want to keep the coat a little more neutral so I can wear it with more outfits.

I may line the cuffs and color with the hankies. TOO MANY IDEAS!

Riki and Lucy

This little white dog found her way to my husband at work yesterday. She is a stray and needed a good home!

I'm very excited but as you can see it is going to take Riki a while to get used to sharing...I thought things were going really well and then they had a couple scraps today. She wants to chase Riki and he is afraid. Silly dog, he has been trying to get me to chase him for three years and I'm just too old.

I am exhausted trying to create a pack. Where is that dog whisperer when you need him?

She passed her heart worm test and going to get fixed next week and her infected ear cleaned while under. She is the quite chunky, the guys at the plant have been feeding her scraps for weeks.

I have all my ducks in a row

 It was a great day in the back yard today. I helped my husband open the pool and my job was to turn the pump on and off.  Lookie what I spied in the fence gate! Sweet tiny little bird nest. Much better experience than last year, I got stung by a wasp.

My poppies look much prettier when the water is blue...it was looking much better by the end of the day.

 The yard is so beautiful, something blooming everyday and the shade garden is at its peak. Daylily, Japanese painted fern and blue elegance hosta in this shot. I was so excited that my moss is going to seed on my patio! When I figure out how to share on my phone I will.

Jean jacket refashion

 I love you tube, you can watch a couple five minute videos and learn how to applique. I ironed and basted the piece as suggested before sewing.

 Pressed the seams and pulled the basting out and I think it looks great.

Love that this set of earrings I bought in Austria will work with my color palette! I have been saving them for something special.

 So many choices, I'm just taking it one idea at a time. Finished the plackets so got to wear it with the blue t shirt in the next picture. I like that color so much I am going to try to keep the coat matching the turquoise and purples.

I have an idea of using the doily as a base of a embroidered mandala on top the the antique hankie. One good thing about this idea is I can make it and pin it on and if I don't like it I won't be wasting all that sewing time. It will also be easier to sew through that thin cotton rather than the heavy denim. 

Or I might just use the hankies to line the collar and cuffs. So many good ideas! Fun.

adult coloring

I'm working on this adult coloring page I created using my new rapidograph  pens on parchment.

My intention was to get a good picture of it before I colored it but still haven't figured out my mac. Can't even do simple tasks like scanning, printing, sharing. Shoot.

This is just the marker layer going to add gel pen next!

Lace haul

Got lucky at the local Bally Peddler antique store, found all the bags for five bucks each! SCORE! The black one may have been carried once and the brown is virgin. :)

I shop those little leather purses every time I go to Macy's but can't bring myself to pay $65 bucks for them.  I'm not sure how someone could pay thousands for a purse.

 The lace was priced at two dollars per style. What a deal the cotton will dye really well if I decide to do that.
