Jean jacket refashion

 more snakes

I haven't blogged much lately but I have been doing art. Working in my dylusion journal and adding details to my coat.

Blue doggy had to be stitched up while adding dorset buttons from Austria to my coat!

Wildflowers

Finished this page I had worked on last week with the lyrics of Wildflowers by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Rip.

Stormy weather climbing rose

I can tell that my latest gelli prints have inspired new color in the garden.
We added the Rose Canna and Stormy Weather lilac climbing rose last weekend.  I wasn't sure how the pink and orange would look together but it is really pretty.  Very bollywood. I put the seven canna's in the pots along the forty foot bed and the two roses replaced the beautiful honeysuckle that we destroyed.  That thing got aphids on it every year and was so disgusting we got rid of it.  I don't want something out back that we have to put insecticide on, besides the fact I'm afraid those aphids would infest every thing out there.

magnolia journal page with gelli prints

Using a few of my latest gelli prints and matt medium I made a background in my Dylusion journal.  Doodled with gel pen and added the lyrics to my favorite song of the week, Magnolia by J J Cale.  Added some New Orleans elements with stencils and small gelli plate.  It works so well as a stamp or a stamp pad, love it!  I dabbed gesso through the Fleur de lis then added color, wiped it back then added dimension by stamping through a tiny stencil with the small gelli.  So FUN!

drawing on the right side of the brain

Another lesson from my book.  I've been slacking off.  Don't know why.
Maybe because it is so much more fun to doodle on a gelli print collage in my dylusion journal.  I love Bob Dylan.  Plus a bunch more random quotes I found on my desk today.
A tiny peak of spring.  So ready...

peacock feather

Try as I might I cannot paint an authentic looking peacock feather.  The bottom one is getting closer but needs work.  Maybe when I get my new books it will help.  Drawing on the Right side of the brain and a color book by the same author.  The top and middle are what I "think" a peacock feather looks like...

Found more fabric that matches the bedroom.  Bought a few yards of it and going to make Riki his own blanket so he can leave mine alone.  The little brat chewed two rows of beads off the scarf the other day.

I am here in the now.

Had so much fun using my gel pens over my latest gelli prints.  Gelli prints make such a great background to work over.  I just glue them down in small pieces with matt medium.

2014 Puppet show

This picture on pinterest inspired my latest journal page.

Sketched Judy big and then printed off a smaller copy to work with on the page.

Used a couple ATC watercolor blanks to make my circus art and the puppets.  Created the stage with gelli prints on deli paper.  I love how the paper melts into the page using matt medium.  Used some circus rub-ons then brushed with matt medium to knock the shine off.

Judy's dress is a gelli print of a sea shell.  So is her club.  I really like how this page turned out.  Makes me wonder what the new year will bring.
I'm a little embarrassed to say I spent days drawing my tiny characters.  What the hell is she doing?  I'm sure my husband was thinking.
I'm not sure why my crazy clowns all have the same messed up eyes, but I'm thinking it is my lack of skill and training.

screen of ICE

This is my view of the pool today.  A SHEET of ice.  Brrr.

Could be what inspired my snowflake page.  I used my leftover gelli prints to do this page and finished it with a little bit of gel pen.
I really miss my little dog.

blackbird fly gelli print

I like this page much better than the last.  Gelli prints on deli paper make such a wonderful background for your art journal.  I used matt medium to glue the bird prints down.  Added some paint to the edges and the text and it is DONE.  Fun page and I love my bird stencil I made a few weeks ago.

Still don't like this page after whitewashing it.  I guess that is what is great about art journals.  You don't have to make good art as long as your making art!  I will say I like the lesson in the nine of swords.

oct13

Put a full moon and a black cat on my page.  Found the perfect size plate and painted the moon out in white gesso.  Did the yellow with water color pencil and Faber-Castell indian ink pens.  Painted the cat with black Faber-Castell and didn't like it because it was too shiny so went back over it with black gesso.  Love the matt finish.

dylusion journal

Worked on this background for two days.  I like it so far.  You will all recognize the Tim Holtz masks. I totally jacked it up yesterday and ended up gluing the pages together to forever bury the bad.  Today, I started over with a small brayer and acrylic paints.  After I was happy with the green and purple I put the masks down and pounced the black.  Now what?

dylusion journal

White washed with gesso and did some gel pen doodling.  Wish I had left the color bright.  Next time I'll know better.
