fruit crates and cigar box art storage

I have been collecting cigar boxes and fruit crates for the last eight years.  They say if you put your collection together it will have more impact.  I'm so happy with this art storage.  

I put my heavy chime parts in the wooden boxes and took photos of each interior for inventory purposes.

Sewing machine needles.  I picked up a baggy full of needles for only $3.00.  I can't even imagine what these would go for retail.  Another great find.

I really love the colors of the boxes combined with the crates.  I used magazine holders inside the bottom level to store my Somerset magazines.  Lower right shelf holds many journals I have completed the last eight years.

I store unmounted stamps in the humidor.  I bought this at Willie Aames garage sale.  One of my favorite things!

Got some great bargains at my favorite scrapbook store. Also found the memories white dye ink! So excited about it!

Took a couple of weeks but I've switched my desk up and now can see it! Like the new set up and eager to start a big project.

Art storage

I rearranged my desk this week. Needing better storage for my pencils and pens. Made up a couple of cigar boxes of tags and tapes. I need to use this stuff instead of hoarding and organizing it!

I moved the shorter markers in the black cubbies and ended up leaving the pencils in the lazy susan. Not portable but like.

mandala kit

Here are the tools I use to make my mandalas. The brass ashtray is my largest circle. I start with it and then use the larger cd to find the center. Trace around the center and outside. I then put the small cd down for another row. After that I use the fiskers circle stencil and all the other little stencils. Fast and fun. Use a pitt pin indian ink fine for the outline, then color with water color pencils and inktense pencils. Background is water color crayons. I'm using my mixed media journal here.

Color charts

I'm using this Basic Grey pocket journal to make an inventory of my pens and pencils. I should have done something like this fifteen pencils ago. Oh well, live and learn. I'm going to put this in my purse and before I buy another I'm going to check it to make sure I'm not buying duplicates! I have my favorite colors and I tend to buy them over and over. Now that IS sick.

My husband was on vacation this week and he took me to the city to the Utrecht art store. That place is fabulous. They had all the art journaling supplies I have been craving at Michael's and Hobby Lobby.

I bought so much stuff that I was embarrassed. He didn't even flinch. I had been saving back for this haul. I'm not sure I'm even going to post pictures. I think I might have a problem.
