Custom luxury dog bed

Luxury. By luxury I mean the fabric came from our trip to Austria and the insides are composed of some really nice pillows I auditioned before I found the right one. One pillow was the memory foam stuff and the other was down. So I'm not going to do the math but let's just say it is a good Christmas for the babies!

They both liked the idea from the beginning. Lucy took a three hour nap on her pillow before any sewing happened which delayed the process. I wish I would have snapped a picture of that.

Lucy's couch took me hours on end with the planning and surprises that always come with sewing. I don't see things in my head spatially. I don't even know where I am spatially...Anyway the piping took hours and it did not turn out the way I had it planned. And the arms I freaking had a stupid moment and shortened them while cutting things out!

That said, I LOVE it!

 Riki's pillow took just thirty minutes by throwing out the design ideas and using up the leftover fabric. His feathers are sideways and no armrests for him. Ran out of fabric.

Alcohol inks

I am drunk on these alcohol inks! Reminds me of the old days when I did drink alcohol, I never know when to stop! Lucky these aren't giving me a hangover and I am having so much fun with them!

 I found my notes from a few years ago to remind myself to make a live oak stencil with hot glue technique.

Pulled out all my original stencils to work with tomorrow on yupo. So fun! Just like when gelli printing, I'm stuck on perfecting the peacock design. Mother nature is the best and most inspiring artist I know.

I'm glad to find another use for my gelli printing supplies because I have a gazillion of them.

Spent the day working on this feather.  I did it perfect last night then messed it UP!  Sometimes art is all about knowing when to stop!

more sewing

I added pin tucks and some embroidery stitches to my scarf.  Not done yet, I think a few more rows will do it.  This is a shot of both ends.

I don't know about anyone else but I lay on a heating pad nightly for back pain.  Got so tired of looking at that nasty blue synthetic fabric that I customized mine a while back.  Updated the non velvet side to match the new fabrics.  This looks great in the picture so I won't go into the whole nightmare sewing story.  Okay, I will.  By the time I finished the damn thing was 1/4 inch TOO SMALL!  My husband convinced me that trimming a heating pad would not be a good idea so I folded an edge over and taped it with electrical tape.  (After having a not so lady like cussing fit.)  Anything to save that last remnant of cotton velvet!  One corner was a little wonky and I kept missing the edge of the velvet.  That is what sewing is like for me.  Always at least one wonky edge.
