Birthday haul part 2

 My husband took me to my favorite store today to spoil me a little more. So excited to have the new oxide inks from Tim Holtz Ranger. They are cool!

 I have been trying to resist the whole Big Shot Circuit Silhouette Cameo dye cut situation. It is getting harder and harder. I was old school coluzzle and fine with that but then I ran out of blades. They no longer make the blades for the coluzzle knife. Found out that the Xacto swivel knife blades fit my knife so ordered that knife too! Then saw these great templates and thought I was good until I tried it. The new knife doesn't work very well with the coluzzle templates and the blade is a little different for the old knife. The new templates are just wonky and wide . Dang. So plan on using the new templates for tracings and cutting the damn things out with scissors.

I really don't think I need to invest hundreds of dollars for all the shit to cut shapes for cards...I would love to have the big shot and a gazillion dyes but for now I'm holding OUT!

On the other hand I have no problem  investing in every color she had of the new oxide inks! SO COOL. I LOVE matt finish anything and these are really going to be fun.

I stocked up on the new dylusion journal in the flip form, bought another square because I loved working in that shape and a few other goodies Courtney always has in stock.

It seems excessive but when you consider that this stuff is pretty much my only expense. I indulge in art supplies and forgo all the trips my friend Susan thinks I should take. Trips are good but I like to spend my time doing art and sleeping in my own bed with my little Riki.

Okay, it is excessive but I love it and can't wait to do more art journaling. That is what has been missing in my life.

I've had to drag out my art journal for a little fun art in between the serious stuff.  It is all fun but the stamp collage is more challenging of course.

 Another lesson from my book.  I've been slacking off.  Don't know why.

 Maybe because it is so much more fun to doodle on a gelli print collage in my dylusion journal.  I love Bob Dylan.  Plus a bunch more random quotes I found on my desk today.

Spent the day working on this feather.  I did it perfect last night then messed it UP!  Sometimes art is all about knowing when to stop!

poppies page

This journal page started with a few black and white gelli prints I made with my hand cut poppy stencils.  I was reading some one's blog the other day and used her technique of stamping text through the stencil.  Love that layer!

I tore the deli paper into smaller pieces to make the background collage.  Used my inktense pencils and neocolor II crayons to color it in.  Fun page will have to work with the background color a little and put this idea on a canvas.

I'm actually a nervous wreck tonight because my house will be invaded by strange men tomorrow to put down the new carpet.  This is as close to moving as you can get without really doing it.  We have taken all my crap down to the basement.  My husband even took EVERY bra I own down there.  He spoke up that he would bring me one in the morning.  Ha.  I found the perfect rack for my bras last Thanksgiving.  I keep seasonal items in my closet to decorate the house and discovered my wire cornucopia makes a perfect bra holder and I don't want some strange man and his son checking out those 38D's.  I just line those suckers up and let them hang loose.         

2014 Puppet show

This picture on pinterest inspired my latest journal page.

Sketched Judy big and then printed off a smaller copy to work with on the page.

Used a couple ATC watercolor blanks to make my circus art and the puppets.  Created the stage with gelli prints on deli paper.  I love how the paper melts into the page using matt medium.  Used some circus rub-ons then brushed with matt medium to knock the shine off.  

Judy's dress is a gelli print of a sea shell.  So is her club.  I really like how this page turned out.  Makes me wonder what the new year will bring.  

I'm a little embarrassed to say I spent days drawing my tiny characters.  What the hell is she doing?  I'm sure my husband was thinking.  

I'm not sure why my crazy clowns all have the same messed up eyes, but I'm thinking it is my lack of skill and training.
