Snowy day

I've spent my weekend washing and ironing my collection of silk, lace and hankies.  I've been collecting antique linens with the intent of making something fabulous with them! Pinterest gives me such inspiration!

I had everything laundered and had to buy a new iron.  Then, I discovered the great idea of using shower curtain rings and hangers to store scarfs!  Off to Dollar General for cheap rings.

I'm not sure where I got all this lace but have more in gaudy colors.  Won't that be fun!

Address book

I found this little address book at the thrift store.  I used my seven gypsies journals as an inspiration to alter it.  I used craft paper and a glue stick to put a new cover on it.

Then used Tim Holtz tape to dress up the binding.  (And hide my mistakes.)

Coated with matt medium then used gesso to edge everything in black.

beaded scarf

I made this a few months ago and just now getting around to beading it. It looked like I had plenty of beads and a plan. But, I had to do some serious scrounging for ten special beads.  I knew that I was a little short, but reality didn't sink in until I ran out of a key bead!  No way I could replace them at Michael's because most of my beads come from old jewelry.  I found a barrel bead the same width and used two of them to make the length.  Whew!

Can you tell which is different?

Here is a shot with the new fan and carpet.  Painting has to wait for my husband to have some time off  work...I can paint a picture, but for the life of me can't paint a wall.  Well, I can paint a wall, but also touch the ceiling and woodwork and would never trust myself with a gallon of paint on the new carpet!

Done!

Mystic krewe of Nyx

Got out my gelli plate to make my friend a Mardi Gras card.  She is riding in NYX parade this year.  They throw purses so made her a little favor to go in the package.

Layered a thin coat of gold paint on the plate and pulled a print through some stencils.  Then let that coat dry before brayering a thin coat of purple.  Very subtle effect but I really like it.    Hope she does.

I am here in the now.

Had so much fun using my gel pens over my latest gelli prints.  Gelli prints make such a great background to work over.  I just glue them down in small pieces with matt medium.

hamsa gelli prints

I had a great time yesterday gelli printing with my hamsa stencils I picked up in New Orleans.  Can't wait to use these in my journal.
Has anyone else out there had a problem with STOPPING?  I printed so long yesterday that I can hardly move today.  Ugh.  It is addicting.  I stopped for a while but before I knew it I was printings again!
"Hi, my name is Micky and I'm addicted to gelli printing."

patina

I did an experiment with a few charms and it worked so well that I'm going patina everything!  If I remember right it was apple cider vinegar and coarse salt.

I see future seashell mandalas.
Waiting for the green.
