Dylusion 8" journal

This page is fun, not quite done.  I forgot I was doing one page spreads.  Glued some gelli prints on deli paper down with a glue stick and doodling with moonlight gel pens.

Gelli printing

Had some great fun playing with my new gelli's.  Trying out different color combos and making notes,  Maybe I will learn what colors not to print together. Don't use complimentary colors because it looks BAD! Love the blue and greens together.

All day gelli printing

I printed on my gelli plate all day long.  Pure bliss.  I'm never done though.  I get exhausted before I have my prints exactly the way they should be.  My favorite print here
was a piece of memo paper I used as a mask.  I find mono printing very elusive and if I'm not careful I go to far.  Actually that is my biggest challenge, quitting before you wreck the whole print.

gelli printing

A storm rolled in tonight so I pulled out my 6" gelli plate and some circle stencils and printed my stress away.

I read a few articles about the hurricane Katrina ten year anniversary coming up.  One said something about PTSD being a big side effect.  I will have to count myself in that boat.  I used to really enjoy a good thunder storm but now that I truly understand the power of nature, I'm scared.  Also sad that our life down there ended so abruptly, we mark time by the storm.   Somehow I knew when we were down there that our time was limited.  I envied the people that had already enjoyed twenty or ten years on the beach. I did use those years wisely and walked that beach almost daily.  That is saying a lot for me because the only thing I like to do everyday is art.  I have to force other activities, not that walk on the beach with my little dog, it was such a magical time.  I get a really good feeling just writing about it.  Something about being on the edge that helps bring you back to your true self.  Not many people use the beach, funny, I know, same thing in Florida.  You see tourists and few regulars, but most people don't even take Beach Blvd. because they are in too big of a hurry.  I ALWAYS took Beach Blvd. every where I went! I'm not sure I would wade in that toxic stew today like I did back then but don't regret it one bit.

Gelli printing

Used neon folk art craft paint with scratch foam and stencils for prints pulled off the wonderful gelli plate.  My first time printing with the new setup and it was really easy to find everything to make the different textures.  I rolled the purple over one print and loved it so much I rolled it over every print from last night too!

Gelli print card

Turned a gelli print into a one of a kind sympathy card for a really good friend.  She lost her father, I don't know what she will do without him.  Thankfully she has a new grand baby on the way, she will need this new soul in her life.
