lilacs

My first vase of lilacs for the year!  I think they just may be my favorite flower ever. They weren't open when cut so I got the pleasure of watching them open on my desk over the course of the day.  They smell so good.
Anything to distract me from the terrible storms that were predicted.  I heard a semi was blown on it's side on I-70.

gelli prints

I gave up on my Amazon order.  It did not come so went to Michael's on Saturday.  A week of pure torture, all for nothing.  Gave me some time to plan my prints.  This is the beginning.  A brown row.

gelli plate collage

I have been waiting all week for my craft paint from Amazon.  I got inspired to do this kuba cloth gelli print collage.  Then, I ran out of paint...mind you, my husband was home for four days and offered many times to run me over to Michael's and even at midnight Saturday night he offered to take me to Wal-Mart.  But no, I let my phobias stop me from leaving the house.  I live south of Kansas City and have to take some dangerous roads to get to any store.  The two lane highway out of our small town had two fatality wrecks in one short week.  Not to mention the four lane highway has had a crazy fucking sniper randomly shooting at people! Plus, being a scary stretch of four lane full of aggressive drivers in giant suv's.  If you are not in the correct lane for Hobby Lobby they freaking WILL NOT let you go to Hobby Lobby.  I found myself playing bumper cars because I freaking am going to Hobby Lobby even if your car is bigger than mine.

So, I tried the idea out in my journal with my sample prints and I think it is going to be great.  I primed the canvas below with gesso and am just waiting for my paint.  I ordered many bottles of paint and they have been shipping them to me two at a time.  AND not the two I need for this project!  I made a few foam stamps to mimic my mud cloth idea.

I swear, if the paint isn't at the post office today I will be going in to town after all.  Instead of just doing another project, I have spent the entire week.  Waiting.  So hard to do when you are inspired.  Let the PRINTING begin!

kuba cloth gelli print

I pulled just a few prints this morning and ran out of craft paint.  I really like this one!  I need a ride to Michael's...

kuba cloth gelli prints

I printed these off the other day.  I could not even look at them because I thought they were so terrible.  Today I'm liking them a little better.  I love all old textiles and Kuba cloth is one of my favorites.  These prints seem like a poor attempt but I'm liking the idea.

Flea market finds

We had too much fun at the local antique stores the other day.  Found these awesome crystals and blue bottles.  My husband picked up the glass handles for the new SEWING TABLE he going to make me with THIS!
The base as well as the handles were thirty five bucks a piece.  Who could pass that up?

flag stamps

We went junking again the other day.  Omg.  I am a true hoarder because I bought a bunch more stuff and I don't even have my hoard put away yet!  Who could pass up a million rubber stamp flags?  Not me.

mirror project

Found this cheap mirror at target.  They had this for five bucks and a few for forty bucks.  Nothing in between.  I liked the size and shape of this one so fixed it!
Napkins and matt medium.  Used the center and the borders of the napkin to cover the offending plastic.
Made a perfect addition to my little alter in the closet.  I'm sure I will add to this as I finish putting my craft room back together after it is painted.  That room is next on the list.

closet redo

I'm having a little fun redoing my closet.  My husband really wanted the gun safe in there so I asked him if I could cover it with silk.  He didn't have a problem with that, so the ideas started there.  He offered to move all his cloths to the other bedroom, then I really had  tons more room to deal with.
Remember Christopher Lowell and his famous decorating closet?  I took that idea a little further and display my favorite art projects for the different seasons.

Turns out I have more art than I have clothes so I made myself a little display of the girly stuff I have made from my childhood photos.  The baskets are functional as well as beautiful.  There is actually two bolts of fabric in the biggest one, belts and lace in another, the front one is my pool basket.  I have always used natural baskets for laundry.  I have a big aversion to plastic.

Bobbie Crystal and Bliss decided to join in on the fun.  I love having a spot for my altered bottles.  The sailors Valentines are right at home here too.  My secret little hideaway.  (If you follow my blog you can see a peek of my cornucopia of bras on the left.)

So now I need to go back to the laundry.

Gelli print material

All you gelli print enthusiast out there know what a HAUL this is!  I've been keeping my eyes open for different sizes of bubble wrap and found this HUGE piece just yesterday!  Those are some big bubbles right there.  Can't wait to see what it looks like with some cool circle stencils I have.
This is some gauze and lace I used last session.  Won't that be cool on some mixed media piece?
I really think it is time to do some art instead of laundry.  All day every day.  I'm finding myself deciding if I will ever wear a piece before ironing.  My garage sale is going to be good.  I'm sick of laundry and the allergies.
