Crinkle voile curtains World Market

Picked up my curtains today, had to pay more than they were the other day but at least I didn't have to pay $5.00 more a panel.  Really World Market?  I'm sure our wages haven't increased accordingly.  Come on folks, I was sure they were $13 a panel on sale.  Two days later, (they were in the process of a reset), they are marked $20 a panel on sale for $17.  I went to the old display and the manager found me there wanting to help me. Well, she didn't really want to help me because she scanned said panel and stated that they were on sale for $17 so I must be mistaken.  I reached over to the panel and pulled the $15 price and say, "Oh, look here, I thought they were cheaper."  She was livid and jerked the thing out of my hand and told me it was an old sign.  So, I didn't get the sale price off the $15 but at least I didn't have to pay that special sale price of $17.  She was rude and told me to have the cashier to page her.  She came and checked me out and was even ruder, I could smell her cigarette on her so that didn't even help her calm down. I'm surprised she acted that way because I would think any paying customer is better than no customers.  I am always polite because I have worked retail and know how you get treated daily.  I also know that two bucks a panel did not come out of her paycheck and if she had pulled the old signs we wouldn't have had an issue.

I didn't let it upset me because I love the curtains and they were way cheaper than that mess of velvet I ordered up on Overstock.  I won't be shopping there anymore.  I was charged an unbelievable amount for restocking those drapes plus the shipping.  Dang. Sorry honey.  So my blues still don't match but I like it now.  It reminds me of the colors of the ocean in here, green and blue which ties in well with the Ganesha.

chair repair

When we bought the tanker desk they threw the chair in for 5 bucks.  The arms were covered with duct tape but the rest of the chair looked really good.  I wasn't sure if it was worth repairing because for 5 bucks I figured the chair was probably broken.  Nope.  It is in great shape and I had the leather vest from a thrift store find.  With help from my sweet husband I was able to recover the armrests and set up a sewing room in my old studio.  Guess I need to learn to sew a little better.

Little Riki can run like the wind when you call him.  Here RIKIIIIII!  My SLR Nikon D50 camera is fast and I got off one shot and he was here.  Love those action shots.  Look at his tail!  He had to have a major summer haircut because he got in the pool one time and it ruined his hair.  Mats everywhere.  He is really well behaved when I cut him so he turns out a lot better than Buster.  I do like his hair long so hope it will grow back.  I was just sick that I had to cut his long ears but look how cute he is without them.
I am going back to World Market for some blue curtains.  I've decided not to dye the silk, just move it to the next room.  I love it so much but the gold color just doesn't match the green tanker.  They have some cotton broomstick curtains that will be cute with my mismatched raskog and green desk.  I really think it will pull it all together.  He is painting the master bath so I am going to buy some new towels too.  Big fun!

Gelli printing

Used neon folk art craft paint with scratch foam and stencils for prints pulled off the wonderful gelli plate.  My first time printing with the new setup and it was really easy to find everything to make the different textures.  I rolled the purple over one print and loved it so much I rolled it over every print from last night too!

Gelli print card

Turned a gelli print into a one of a kind sympathy card for a really good friend.  She lost her father, I don't know what she will do without him.  Thankfully she has a new grand baby on the way, she will need this new soul in her life.

gelli prints per Paula Phillips

Stencil storage

I had so much fun last night setting up my stencil storage via Carolyn Dube!  She had it right, j-hooks on a rod.  My sweet husband rigged the rod on my old school desk.  I think he called it all thread then had a tubing that went over that.  They slide really well and I had kept enough packaging to hold the masks, then hanging with j hook.

I ordered the j hooks from amazon and paid extra to have next day shipping.  Is that sick or what?  Can't wait to gelli print with all my stuff around me!

Ganesha stamp collage time capsule

I made a little time capsule for the back of the Ganesha.  I put a couple of envelopes from the original stamp collection along with some cards talking about who made it and who collected the stamps.  Thank you Mrs. Alice Miller, without you this project could not have happened.  I'm hoping that this piece will last long enough for it to be interesting to someone someday.  One of the envelopes has a 1965 cancellation, so the collection is already fifty years old.

Ganesha stamp collage

I finished waxing the Ganesha today.  I had John hang it right in front of me so I can keep looking at it.  I really enjoyed this project and glad to have it done and out of my way.  It was a big challenge and I feel really good about how it turned out.  Nam Myoho Renge Kyo.

Tanker gelli station

In between working on the Ganesha I finally got my tanker gelli station all set up.  It has been so hard not to abandon the stamp collage for gelli printing.  You addicts out there will understand that.

We went to the fair Friday night and my husband found this cool stuff at a antique store we entered for the air conditioning.  It was too hot in there for me to see but he has a great eye!  The Ingento paper cutter was only 8 bucks!  It is a great 12" size so it will live on top of the desk!  It is really sharp but has no guard so will have to be very careful when using it.  I don't have any cigar boxes this size and got both for $3.00.  What a steal!  I also found a great cloth basket but had to put it in the other room because the lady had stitched the darn thing full of cat hair.  We are both allergic to it.
