Flannel pants

Managed to finish all four pair of flannel pants. These really fit well because I chose my favorite store bought pair of yoga pants and used those to cut out a pattern from butcher paper. It is reusable and easier than tissue. I imagine if I needed something more tailored it would never work. I will say I can't believe how big my ass is, unfortunately they look HUGE!

Third time is a charm I guess.  Learned new things each time. One is to add a little more than a zigzag to mark the center back. These little tags are cute, also to make them longer. I used a wider elastic at the waist and did much more top stitching and seam finishing with the serger. I had read a tip about re enforcing the crotch seam by sewing, serge ing, ironing flat and top stitch over that. I'm sure they will last forever now! I feel like I accomplished something and can't wait to wear a pair.

I'm a little strange (to say the least) and have to have only cotton or silk on my skin and then I get my favorite clothes and wear only those. I do have a whole closet of stuff to wear out of the house but only my "art clothes" get worn most of the time.

Miss Lucy could hardly wait for me to get my photos to try them out. She climbed up there and cleaned herself like a cat. Silly girl. Princess and the Pea once again. I spoil them both in the winter and cover them in my warm laundry before folding. She really loves that! So does Riki.

is going to be cozy around here this winter.

Snowed in

This was last weeks snow, the girls are not amused.

I can't even find her in there! John took these for me because I wouldn't even step outside.
I did do a little jump over to Cargo Largo for some great stuff!  I needed a skinny ring to wear between my fabulous diamonds! I stacked them up because one is too big and the other holds it on and now they rest nicely on my finger.

So, then...I found this great prasiolite (manmade) triangle and beautiful fresh water pearl. Gawd. I can say that it was a planned purchase and I got all the rings for the price of one. Looks like a more extravagant haul than it really is, which is my favorite way to shop. The mirrors are great and I bought two bare mineral lip gloss for 7 bucks a piece. I really love love love Cargo Largo. Did I mention that I finally got old enough for SS and enjoying having my own money to shop with. Forgot to take a picture of the two 18x18 gesso board canvas. Great buy there also and wish I would have bought them all. Can't wait to do some collages on them.

I cut three more pair of flannel pants out but needed to take a break because of the pain. Hurts just to move when your finally old enough for social security.

flannel pants

Stayed up all night last night working on these pants then got up at noon started working again and just now at 10pm have them done.

Boy oh boy.

I did make a new pattern (third one) and much happier with the fit. Although, see that cool cuff...they are that much too long. Ha. At least they are not TOO SHORT!

I consider any project that isn't worn out when I'm done a success. Needless to say, the seam ripper is my best friend when sewing.

JoAnn's Christmas haul

After ordering this three times I finally got my shit together and ended up with the best Christmas present ever! I wish I knew how to stream because I would make my palette's of ink and my colorburst online!  I hear the girls are having a stream-a-thon over the New Year, looking forward to that.
Do you think my new pj pants are too bright? Ha!

Three pair down one to go. Just need to finish up the hem and waist of the fourth. So cute and I am really getting better at sewing, never thought that would happen.

It helps to have a good machine and my husband fixed my serger for me.

I will try to take pictures of the the last pair because I actually had to deconstruct a previous pair to figure out how I made that cute hem. Not that hard, but I could not figure it out without taking it apart.

Can't believe I messed that order up so many times but glad I repeated it over and over. It was worth it! Four pairs of pj's for only $32 bucks. The inks were on sale $5.99 for three, and I got the colorburst through Amazon with credit card points so they were free! What a HAUL!

book cover

Going through my fabric I found this great book cover for my black virgin dylusion 8x8 journal. I think we have a theme going on with the inner voodoo sticker.

Reworked my morning glory page and like it much better.
New pj's.

Riki's blankie

I whipped up this blanket after watching the video below on you tube.  My corner miters didn't turn out perfect because I was using a striped fabric.  Riki won't notice and I have learned to let small imperfections go when sewing or painting for that matter.  My skills don't meet my standards but if I let that stop me I would never make anything, and all my art would live in the closet like it did for years and years.

flannel pj's

Tried some shibori techniques on this set of pj's.  Thought I was going to add to the shirts but the pants are so busy I think I'm done.

Belly bands

Picked up more flannel at JoAnn's.  Three bucks a yard.

Made Riki some new belly bands out of some nice french jersey.  I lined this batch with cotton batting and he must of thought that was pretty cool because he peed all three in the first hour.  What a brat.  I need to find a smaller bell.  He is not getting the potty outside thing.  I had a bell but it scared him because it was too big.
The green are the new batch.  I'm getting much better.  The first batch look like a 4th grader made them.
