Peace mandala

I had this nice silk ribbon but the colors weren't quite right so I dyed them with my inktense blocks. Fun!

The more color I get on this mandala the more I like it. I remember crocheting this doily right after the storm. I had lost all my patterns and this was the best I could find at the time. It took forever and I thought it was not lacy enough so put it away. So glad I found it because the very thing I didn't like about it before is what makes it perfect for this project!

Had to abandon this project for a while, when you can no longer feed yourself, it is time to put the mandala down! I really tried to get all the blue on the outside done so I could feel like I have done something. Good thing I am ambidextrous because I had to use my left hand today. So weird that I embroider right handed and am actually left handed, although I paint with both hands. I guess i crochet right handed too.

I recently started mousing with my left hand because my carpel tunnel is worse in the right hand from my past obsession with making temaris.  It feels so natural that it was no wonder I had no mouse control when I first started using my Gateway. I have often wondered if I would have bowled with my left hand, would I have been any better?

Trump this!

I watched an art video this morning that suggested we artists use our tools to express how we are feeling. This is what I came up with...Trump made the yearbook journal.

Stayed up really late and refashioned Riki's bed. I cut one of those fancy rubber pillows in half and used that to cushion the base.  Left the upper loose for a blankie.  Of course it is messed up. That is how I sew.

The last zinnia of the season. Ramone pulled all the stepping stones and pots out of the skinny bed and tilled in all kinds of good dirt and peat for next year. The canna's had multiplied and since we had to dig them for the tilling I put them downstairs for the winter. That is the suggested way to grow canna in my frostzone #5. My father in law leaves his in the ground year round and never has a problem, so will put them back in the ground next spring and leave them. They started out in the big pots but did not get enough water so put them in the ground. Can't wait to grow my lettuce in the big pots next spring.

Pink underneath

I right brained my flower last night. I didn't pull the picture up because I was sure I remembered the color. Ha. It is supposed to be pink.

Have had an Apple computer for months now and hate it. Well I should say, I hate that I don't know how to find my pictures anymore. I deleted the Adobe program I tried to put on it and going to remove my passport. Wish me luck. We may never get to see my latest haul...Royal Deluxe Quiet Typewriter!!!! 

Ice dye

I added another layer with Elmer's gel glue and Inktense blocks. More to come.

Color charts

Some beautiful colors just by adding yellows and reds to the blues and greens.

I decided to combine my color charts into a water color journal I made a few years back. It is turning out good and it will be so convenient compared to the many sheets and sizes I've made over the years.

I am lucky enough to have duplicates of a lot of my inktense colors so I decided to divide them into separate cigar boxes so  I can have them no matter which box I'm working from. I prefer them over just water color because I enjoy that they are permanent once activated and then dried.  I'm crazy for the muted tones of the graphitint. My advise to all is to buy the largest set they make from the beginning because they do duplicate way too many colors. I love them I will use them so not upset but would have done it differently if I had realized. These are all Derwent product and so worth the money. Even if all you ever do with them is make beautiful color charts.
