Spring 2018

The redbud is so beautiful this year, I love the color and the shape.

Everything is late this year and some of the lilac blooms are damaged from the frigid weather. It snowed here three sundays in a row in April, I can't remember it ever snowing in April.

The Jane magnolia is really pretty too, not as abundant as usual but John had to cut her back last summer.

jean jacket refashion

Okay I think it is done. Took off the bangles, they were way too loud.

Added some bling to the pockets. Not sure I'm liking it.

I'm finding it challenging to work in my gelli print journal. I'm used to starting with a blank page.

jean jacket refashion

Oh my gosh you guys, I decided the sleeves were way too long on this jacket AFTER I embellished it!

After watching a couple of tailoring you tube videos I decided to go for it.

Turned out okay but one little corner. Instead of redoing the flannel facing I just sewed the hell out of it. Hoping my ocd will let it go.

The coat fits much better now, I even bought some new boots that have a turquoise stitching. Cute!

I'm not a big fashion person but always admire the ladies that pull it off, down to the matching shoes. So I guess this is my version of that. Not even appropriate for a sixty two year old women but what the hell. When I get old I shall wear purple! Right? I'm just not like the others.

I do think my coat is cuter than the one I tried on in Chico's and I designed it!

Trying to decide if this is done...anyone think it needs more foliage or grass to tie it all in?

jean jacket refashion

I've been working on my jacket while waiting for spring to begin. So cold outside that I'm glad to have this in my lap to keep me warm. Can you see the fern in progress?

This time last year everything was blooming in my yard all at once! Hopefully the flowering bushes aren't affected by this record cold snap. They seem to know that now is not the time to be blooming.

I see the wisdom in having a garden journal although I've never done it. Now that I have social media I can track things by my pictures I shared the year before.

I've come to the scary realization that I need to shorten the sleeves! Yikes, really scary to do after spending so much time on the embellishment.  At this stage in life I'm used to making rookie mistakes while sewing and not going to let my fear stop me from making it right.Wish me luck.

cell phone case refashion

Poor little Riki was sick so he stayed in bed most of the day.

I, on the other hand, spent the day making a small journal out of my old cell phone case. The cell phone died a way too early death and I spent way too much on the leather cover. It reminded me of my moleskine journal so I re fashioned it into just that.

Another clown out of my head

Been working on this cat way too much. Going to call it done and turn the page.  Will probably do him on a canvas once I find him a friend. I have three painted so that would make five. Can't have four clowns.
Here are the three amigos.

Tuesday Morning haul and rubber stamp storage

Riki is wearing his Izod t shirt. It was on sale for under $3.00, I want to go back! He looks so good in pink.

These sweet little fern stamps and a whole lot of inka doos.

I took a bunch of pictures with my phone and was going to do a big blog about stamp storage. (I have ALL the inkadoo stuff now, I have a problem for sure). Anyway I spent all evening setting them up and will try to find the pictures. I sent them to my computer but I can't find them.

Removed them from all the tiny plastic they come on and placed them on heavy duty plastic envelopes I found at a sale. They don't bend so a perfect storage for cheap. They just happen to fit into one of the plastic picture frames I use as trays in my studio. That all fits into a drawer that is right behind me. Oh, the ocd of it all!

I took most of my background stamps off the wood so this drawer holds a lot.

The humidor holds tons of stamps and is pretty too.
I think I have enough stamps now and need to do art instead of organize. I'm not sure which is more satisfying but I feel so lucky to have so much fun as an old lady!
