Neurographic Art

Exploring neurographic art this week. I've done three and the last looked just like the second so found a bird in there to switch it up. This is a great meditation and I would recommend everyone to try it.

Before I found that I made this mandala out of a big M. Equally as fun and relaxing. I guess I have been doing "neurographic art" all along.

Just a little more smoothing with my tiny iron in the morning and this will be done. I love the smell of that beeswax and the wonderful texture it adds to my projects. I used it as a grout here.

I now wear gloves when working on this because of the splinters. Hope I don't melt my finger tips. I will be careful, actually I need to put a bowl of water on my desk even though I'm using little pliers on the shorties.

I messed it up so had to redo before bed!

Then I had to do the other side. Still some sticky taped areas not sure what to do with.

Worked on this  March mandala last night and then on my matchstick art. Both very meditative. 

Full Honey Moon

Miss Lucy lost a bunch of weight the first two weeks home. First, she was really fat when she got here from eating off the lunch truck with the guys at the soap plant. But then she lost a couple pounds before her surgery by "eating right". Poor thing probably really hates the food here. We feed a premium dog food but it is dog food after all. She healed up after her spay and is filling out. She got boney for a minute there, but looks nice and chubby again. She sure acts like she feels better. I had a little fun coloring her hair this week and can't wait for her to get her bath. She is one smelly girl, I had to put baby powder on her last night to cut the funk, I may do that again.

We are all mad at John for going out of town for work and the dogs have both left a message on his rug that he sits on with them. I did two peace mandala's this week but did not succeed in achieving any serenity. Just feel kind of pissed off and hungry. I will blame that on the fucking honey moon.

Had some more fun with the rapidograph pen and parchment paper I found at that sale a few weeks ago. It is a mic but seems more interesting on it's side. Should I color it?

It will make a perfect mandala journal.

New Orleans water meter

I have had this slate on my desk for weeks trying to figure out something to put on it to remind me of my trip to New Orleans last summer.  While showing my husband the new flickr format I realized I had the art already done!  Cut it out of my watercolor mandala journal and mounted it.  LOVE IT!  Instant art.  Well almost, Buster was napping and the journal was in the tansu and he hates when I open the drawers.  I had to wait almost an hour while he finished his nap.

Did another flower mandala going to put beeswax on it.  Hopefully it'll pull it all together. Or it'll ruin it.  We will see.

I spent a couple of days on this and don't think it is that good.  The picture is terrible.  I like the photo shop version of it.

Aunt Jemima's page

I have left a few pages as is. Guess Aunt Jemima goes all the back to 1925. The left page I did a mandala using some of my new inktense pencils. Love that felt green.

Here are the tools I use to make my mandalas. The brass ashtray is my largest circle. I start with it and then use the larger cd to find the center. Trace around the center and outside. I then put the small cd down for another row. After that I use the fiskers circle stencil and all the other little stencils. Fast and fun. Use a pitt pin indian ink fine for the outline, then color with water color pencils and inktense pencils. Background is water color crayons. I'm using my mixed media journal here.
