Ganesha Stamp collage

I overcame my fears and did his belly.  I also placed a big order at Amazon!  So excited that they have the paint cart from Ikea!  My husband of thirty three years (today) turned his reward points over to me in the form of Amazon gift cards.  What a guy, I think I will keep him.  I have a fude ball pen, stabilo pencil and the six inch circle gelli plate on the way!  So excited.  Oh and some really over priced deli paper.  They have us ladies figured out out and have raised the prices online.  I like the Brown Paper brand better than another kind so paid the inflated price.  I also ordered some rice paper to print on.  All that and a crop-a-dile.  Woo hoo!

Hope I'm not violating any copyright laws by using the stamps.  I don't plan on selling it, although it would make a great puzzle.

Stamp Ganesha

I'm feeling a little nervous and stuck at this halfway point.  Trying to decide how to do the rest of his trunk.

Stamp Ganesha

Riki had a really bad spell today so didn't do much until he went to bed.  He went outside and ran until he depleted all his sugar.  It took several hours to get him to come back around.  All that after him eating a four inch toothpick on Tuesday.  I swear I thought he was a goner then.  So stressful to have a seven pound dog with low blood sugar.

Anyway he is fine now and I got to work on my Ganesha.  Ohm.

Stormy weather climbing rose

I can tell that my latest gelli prints have inspired new color in the garden.
We added the Rose Canna and Stormy Weather lilac climbing rose last weekend.  I wasn't sure how the pink and orange would look together but it is really pretty.  Very bollywood. I put the seven canna's in the pots along the forty foot bed and the two roses replaced the beautiful honeysuckle that we destroyed.  That thing got aphids on it every year and was so disgusting we got rid of it.  I don't want something out back that we have to put insecticide on, besides the fact I'm afraid those aphids would infest every thing out there.

Stamp Ganesha collage

I worked his helmet right off the page.  Not sure if I'm happy with that section but that will be an easy fix.  Or not.  What do y'all think?

Stamp Ganesha

I worked the forehead area last night and it is work!  So far I can still see the elephant.

magnolia journal page with gelli prints

Using a few of my latest gelli prints and matt medium I made a background in my Dylusion journal.  Doodled with gel pen and added the lyrics to my favorite song of the week, Magnolia by J J Cale.  Added some New Orleans elements with stencils and small gelli plate.  It works so well as a stamp or a stamp pad, love it!  I dabbed gesso through the Fleur de lis then added color, wiped it back then added dimension by stamping through a tiny stencil with the small gelli.  So FUN!

Gelli central

With my hamper I'm able to keep all my gelli supplies close by when printing.  My husband named this gelli central last night!

More masks for the gelli plate

I printed directly on the transparency film from some of my journal pages and original art. Love that these are my personal images for the gelli plate.

The heat tool cuts like butter, I usually avoid things that can burn me because it hurts!  I laid my hand right on the hot iron, lucky I have quick reflexes so no major damage, but do we really have to feel pain for our art?  I use art to deal with life's pain so I don't need any more.  Ouch!  I could never be a glass artist because I would spontaneously combust and burn the house down.

I actually witnessed the incident between the grass hopper and tiny hummingbird in my backyard.  She had no idea he was twice her size.

masks for gelli plate

Using my heat tool I've been cutting some masks and stencils for my gelli plates.  Notice the art I printed in back.  I'm going to try to cut those too.

Ganesha stamp collage

I've had to drag out my art journal for a little fun art in between the serious stuff.  It is all fun but the stamp collage is more challenging of course.

Garden 2015

The next round of blooms have begun.  California poppies reseed each year and bloom just as we open the pool.   The Iris were a little beat up from the rain but the Pansy's and Day Lily's on the other side of the porch are thriving.

J.J Cale - Magnolia (studio version)

Does anyone remember the name of the JJ Cale album that was red?  I had it but can't find it or even remember.  I do know it was around 1979.

I think it was a J Geils album I was thinking of.

hand carved stamps

Made a journal page with my hand carved stamps.  Wish I would have left the orange drips off.  Maybe I can fix it tomorrow.
Now I think it needs something but just not orange.
This is really nice I think.  I spent yesterday carving the stamps and then making a journal page with them.  It was really fun.  My mother's birthday was yesterday, she would have been 79 years old.  She has been gone 20 years and I am now 59, the age she was when she died.  Only now do I understand how young she was and how much more life she could have had.  She was truly a tortured soul.
